Specialising in deep and African electronic house music, her musical style is unique thanks to calculated selections and undeniable skill that never fails
to make an impact on dance floors. Heading up her residency club nights Motherland and Sessions alongside fellow DJ/Producer Sef Kombo, Kitty’s ability to create an immersive experience with sound and visuals has further established these projects as some of the UK’s main domains for African electronic music. Supporters Mixmag recognised Motherland events for their “inspiring representation of the diversity of [London’s] black community… with its jubilant and celebratory atmosphere.”

Savvy promoters who have noticed Kitty’s diverse selections and strong connection with audiences have booked her alongside famed DJs such as Black Coffee, Atjazz, Culoe De Song, DJEFF, Roni Size and Horse Meat Disco. Her mark has been made internationally through performances at highly recognised festivals such as Soundwave and Nova Batida, as well as dominating stages in Ibiza, Amsterdam, Croatia and South Africa.

In January 2019, Kitty Amor became the first UK DJ from the Afro House scene to play at Printworks – one of London’s most in-demand party venues. Kitty closed the same year by becoming the first female DJ to perform at Deep In The City, the superlative Johannesburg night curated by Black Coffee and Themba.

Undeterred by the temporary closure of the events industry in 2020, Kitty and Sef Kombo, who have long been musical partners, responded to the challenge of COVID-19 by hosting a series of live DJ streams. The streams demonstrated Kitty and Sef’s determination to always go the extra mile with their events, using eye-catching outdoor venues and indoor locations offering an immersive sonic and visual presentation.

Kitty followed this up by entering 2021 in strong form, as a cover star for Mixmag. In the true spirit of a leader, Kitty shed light on the growing Afro House community and made the case for why the sound and its talents are so deserving of attention. Making a huge mark for the Afro House scene in the UK, Kitty accompanied the cover feature with a mammoth set for Mixmag’s Lab LDN. Kitty’s talents have also gained her media features across the likes of The Face, Worldwide FM, Reprezent, BBC 1Xtra and Foundation FM, as well as a dedicated episode of Resident Advisor’s longstanding podcast series, which explored her decade-long work exposing the genre to new audiences.

With the way she connects with people through sound, Kitty was always destined to be an ambassador of the Afro House scene as well as an important voice for women in dance music.
